How different our culture would be nowadays if the Arabs had not come to Andalusia? Cordoba was once the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate and the center of a new empire in the West. A period of maximum economic and cultural prosperity that gave life to the birthplace of Muslim civilisation in the Iberian Peninsula.
Their influences brought a great wealth of experience in many areas. The Muslims introduced a host of cultural, scientific and artistic innovations: alchemy, mathematics, algebra, chess, music and architecture. And of course, an essential part of our gastronomy.
